71% for MoMA PS1

  • Architecture

In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, MoMA PS1 and MoMA’s Department of Architecture and Design called for ideas – in the form of a five minute film – that would demonstrate possible solutions to the threat of rising sea levels in the Rockaways. In collaboration with Horns + Tails Productions, we made “71%”. Our film put forward a new model to help coastal communities deal with a natural disaster. Our response involved designing geographically-specific, but multifaceted, breakwaters that would be situated  in the landscape as well as near local infrastructure and buildings. (The title, 71%, refers to the percentage of the earth covered in water.)
